What exactly is included in a regular clean?

The answer can vary between cleaning companies, but here's what is typically included in my regular weekly and fortnightly cleaning visits at Adulting Is Hard Cleaning.

🚿 Bathrooms

Bathrooms are usually one of the highest-priority areas in any home.

A regular bathroom clean typically includes:

✨ Toilet cleaned and sanitised
✨ Shower and bath cleaned
✨ Sink and taps cleaned and polished
✨ Mirrors cleaned
✨ Surfaces wiped and sanitised
✨ Floors hoovered and mopped
✨ Emptying bathroom bins if required

I also keep an eye out for areas that often get overlooked, such as skirting boards, window ledges and dust build-up around fittings.

🍽️ Kitchen

The kitchen is often the heart of the home and one of the most-used spaces.

A regular kitchen clean typically includes:

✨ Sink and taps cleaned and polished
✨ Hob cleaned
✨ Cupboard fronts wiped down
✨ Splashbacks cleaned where required
✨ Floors hoovered and mopped

Small tasks such as wiping the microwave exterior, cleaning toaster crumb trays and sanitising pet bowls are often completed where time allows.

🛋️ Living Areas

Living rooms and family spaces are cleaned to help keep your home feeling fresh and comfortable.

This usually includes:

✨ Cleaning coffee tables and side tables
✨ Hoovering floors and rugs
✨ Refreshing sofas and soft furnishings where appropriate
✨ Wiping visible marks from surfaces

🛏️ Bedrooms

Bedrooms are cleaned to maintain a calm and relaxing environment.

This generally includes:

✨ Emptying bins if required
✨ Light tidying to allow cleaning to take place

Bed changes can also be added as an optional extra.

🧹 Hallways, Stairs & Landings

These areas often collect a surprising amount of dust and dirt throughout the week.

A regular clean may include:

✨ Cleaning hard floors
✨ Dusting accessible skirting boards and ledges

Dusting is included as part of regular cleans and usually covers:

✨ Decorative items where practical

❌ What Isn't Usually Included?

To make sure expectations are clear, some tasks are normally considered additional services rather than part of a regular maintenance clean.

These may include:

❌ Inside kitchen cupboards
❌ Interior window cleaning
❌ Decluttering and organisation projects
❌ Deep descaling

These services can often be added separately if required.

⏰ How Long Does A Regular Clean Take?

Every home is different.

Factors that affect cleaning time include:

As a guide:

• 2 hours is often suitable for a smaller home or maintenance clean.

• 2.5–3 hours may be needed for larger homes, families or pet owners.

• First visits often take longer than regular maintenance cleans.
