It's one of the questions I'm asked most often, and the answer usually surprises people.

No, you don't need to clean before your cleaner comes.

After all, that's what you've booked me for!

That said, there are a few small things that can help me spend more time cleaning and less time moving things around. Here's what I'd recommend.

You Don't Need a Perfect Home

One of the biggest worries people have before booking a cleaner is feeling embarrassed about the state of their home.

Please don't be. I clean real homes, lived in by real people. Homes with muddy paw prints, toys on the floor, washing waiting to be folded, dishes in the sink and a never-ending list of jobs.

Life gets busy. That's completely normal.

If your home already looked spotless every week, you probably wouldn't be looking for a cleaner in the first place!

My job isn't to judge, it's to help make your home feel calmer and easier to manage.

A Quick Tidy Can Help (But It's Never Expected)

You don't need to spend hours rushing around before I arrive.

However, if you'd like to help me get the most from your booked time, a quick five-minute tidy can make a big difference.

Things like:

• Putting clothes into a laundry basket

• Moving toys into one area

• Clearing paperwork from kitchen worktops

• Picking up items from the floor

The less time I spend moving belongings, the more time I can spend actually cleaning.
